INFORMATION |
|
SUBJECT |
Beautiful women, nude women are always in demand. Some collectors like interior scenes, while others love children. |
|
QUALITY |
The intensity of colors, the crispness of faces, hands and the complexity of the background all add to the richness and value of the painting. |
|
SIZE |
Generally the bigger the better and more valuable across the same subject and quality. However, a rare great KPM at 6 by 9 may fetch double the price of a large plaque which is a common subject. |
|
RARITY |
Collector are always looking to add both to the diversity and to the depth of the collection. Rarity of a great plaque creates competition and increases value! |
|
ARTIST |
Many collectors look for that special Wagner signature. However, to advanced collectors, this is less important. It is simply icing on the cake. Many good plaques are signed, but a plaque does not have to be signed to be considered great. |
|
CONDITION |
Additionally, it is very important that the plaque be in great condition without inpainting or glazing or restoration. |
THE BACK!.
Subject, quality, subject are most important. But most collectors, first look at the back to ensure that the plaque is truly KPM and the sceptor is
correct, and the plaque is of correct age.
